A nice Chinesco Type D female figure from Nayarit, Mexico. She is sculpted in the birthing position with legs spread and resting on her knees. 

The figure is well done with incised hair, earrings, armbands, a multistrand necklace and a nose ring. She has a cream slip with red paint. 

Chinescos are known for their calm and serene expression such as the one shown here. They are classified into 5 categories. This example is a Type D with some Type C attributes. 

A great piece that is in near perfect, as found condition. There are no breaks, repairs or restoration. Nice manganese deposits attest to her ancient age.
