A very rare Olmec crawling figure from Veracruz, Mexico. This piece is rendered in a kaolin slip with pink highlights.
It’s a male figure with a very expressive face. The eyes are thin and he has a downturned mouth, along with an elongated head.
Olmec crawlers usually depict a baby. This would be considered an adult and is more unusual and seldom seen.
There is an old collection number on the bottom of his leg.
